Question by Stacie: My tomato plant leaves feel weak.?
I just planted a bonnie tomato plant a few days ago in it’s peat pot. I have the cage around it and it’s in full sunlight. The soil is moist, I do know what I’m doing wrong but the leaves and stems feel so flabby. Is this okay? The soil that the plant is in is 50% potting soil and 50% cow manure compost with a good amount of miracle grow plant food mixed in. But I doubt any roots have came through the peat pot in so little time?

you are describing two different problems, the swirly white trails look lke something small is “cutting a new path” inside the leave, right? it is a small moth larvae eating the leaves. they dont do too much damage and dealing with them involves strong poisons so i recommend to just leave them be. as for the new growth, it sounds like it is nitrogen deficient, i’d recomend a dose of 20-20-20 fertilizer with added micronutrients.

best of luck

  4. I set this up in March 2013 after getting feed up with having to shake and
knock my tomato plants to get them to pollinate. Lost all of my tomatoes in
the New Year when we had some very hot days. The tomatoes in this video
have self seeded in my Aquaponics system since then and I’ve just cliped
them up as they have grown.

  5. they feel weak because the plant is weak

  6. give it a chance to establish itself some plants go through a small period of shock the conditions are different it will perk up

  7. It could take a few days for the plant to recover from the planting especially if it’s in a peat pot. I’m concerned about the cow manure and miracle grow plant food. That’s way to much fertilizer for a new plant. Check to see if the leaves are turning yellow, it may burn do to over feeding too early. If not, keep watering, tomato plants are very resilient and easy to grow. Good luck.
