  1. The small tomatoes like cherry, grape or yellow pear will do fine in a large container.

  2. they actually grow “patio tomato plants ” that are geared toward growing in pots

  3. Cherry tomatoes will do best in pots.

    Good Luck

  4. all will do well just use a 4 inch pot or bigger and good quality potting mix

  5. all the smaller tomatoes like cherry and sweet 100 will be fine in a 4″ pot. remember to water and fertilize the plant and you might need some stakes.
    good luck!

  6. Yes, they grow well in containers. The larger the container, the better the results. Smaller varieties – like cherry tomatoes – do well in containers but you can also grow the larger ones too.

I grow all of mine in 15 gallon containers. They are all heirlooms and indeterminate (meaning they vine and are not the bush hybrids). I put them in cages and set the pots against the fence and will zip tie them to the fence if they need extra support. They may produce a little less than if they were in the ground but I can’t say that I’m disappointed with the results! I have some cherry types and some very large beef steak types and they all thrive.

You can also grow them in half wine barrels too. You can put 2 plants in one or 3 if you want to squeeze them in.

    Good luck!

  7. I am growing several varieties in 5 gallon buckets. They do need support though.
