Question by Janae: only have water tomato sauce and seasonings. Can i make tomato soup?
I really want tomato soup. Ihave tomato sauce. Water, seasonings, butter and milk. Id rather not use milk though. So can i make the soup with just this?

If you put enough liquid into it, it should make tomato soup; however, it is much better if you add a little bit of milk to it with the water.

  1. FRESH TOMATO SOUP

    1 c. (2 stalks) chopped celery
    1 sm. onion, chopped
    1 carrot, grated
    1/2 green pepper, chopped
    1/4 c. butter
    4 1/2 c. chicken broth, divided
    1 qt. fresh tomatoes, peeled & chopped
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. curry powder
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    4 tsp. sugar
    1/4 c. flour

    Saute celery, onion, carrot and green pepper in butter in large heavy pan. Add 4 cups broth, tomatoes, curry powder, salt, pepper and sugar; heat to boiling. Reduce heat; simmer for 20 minutes. Blend flour with remaining 1/2 cup broth. Stir gradually into soup. Cook until slightly thickened, stirring frequently. Serve hot. Yield: 2 quarts. A one cup serving equals 57 calories.

  3. do not use the milk unless you have a teaspoon of baking soda!

    You can make the soup with those ingredients.

    use half the amount of water as you have tomato sauce, season with any herbs you think will fit, I like a dash of clove, 1/4 teaspooon each cilantro, corriender, white pepper, garlic and onion. salt to your taste. add a tablespoon of butter. Now if you have the teaspoon of baking soda you can add a cup of milk.

    or you can use the milk instead of the water.
