Question by Kaytee: Would it be OK to put sun-dried tomatoes into Alfredo sauce pasta dish?
I’m just trying to work with what I have in my fridge… So if I make a chicken alfredo pasta, would it spoil the taste if I add some sun-dried tomatoes?

  1. It would be good, but add them at the end or it may turn the sauce pink.

  2. No, not at all. Just know that you won’t get that same rich alfredo taste. It will be more like a Rose (ro-zay) sauce or a vodka sauce if you are familiar with that.
    Bon Appetit!

  3. you can put those tomatoes in anything and they would enhance the flavor of what ever you do

  4. If you have not made the sauce yet- here is the full recipe with sun dried tomato

This is a delicious and creamy sauce that can be served over penne pasta

    Original recipe yield:
    4 servings

    INGREDIENTS
    2 tablespoon butter
    2 tablespoon olive oil
    1 onion, chopped
    1/4 cup sun dried tomato
1 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
    1/4 cup vodka
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 pound penne pasta
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan (Romano?) cheese
    DIRECTIONS
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt better with oil; add onion and saute for 8 minutes or until transparent.
Add tomatoes and cook for 25 minutes or until almost no liquid remains in skillet; stir frequently.
Increase heat and add cream, vodka and red pepper flakes; boil for 2 minutes or until thickened to sauce consistency. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add penne and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain and transfer to a large bowl.
Bring sauce to a simmer and pour over pasta; toss to coat. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese; serve

  5. Yes or no?
    I think yes.

  6. Sounds great to me.

  7. By all means!!!! That would be a great addition to Alfredo….lately, though, I must confess, I’ve been adding a LOT of chopped marinated garlic and artichoke hearts to my Alfredos……quite a different spin, give it a try….

  8. it tastes really good! my best friend adds them and it always tastes great!

  9. absolutely,yumyumyum..

  10. I would be good.

If you added some crispy bacon or crumbled precooked Italian Sausage along with some chopped cooked spinach to the chicken pasta recipe along with the sun dried tomatoes, you would then have something outstanding! Don’t forget the Black pepper grinder either to top off the dish.

  11. absolutely not! if you like sun dried tomatoes then go for it! if not, then why would you? it will give it great flavor, especially if they’re fresh. the ones packed in oil don’t have that much flavor.
