  1. Wow!! Masterfully done. The best video on Youtube.

  2. Your tomato http://easybloom.com/plantlibrary/plant/tomato-68 will get red, but it will not be as sweet as if you’d left it on the plant to ripen. Also, be sure to let it ripen, as green tomatoes have toxins.

  3. Yes, they will ripen faster. But you also try fried green tomatoes. They’re delicious. All you have to do is slice them, dip them in an egg with a little milk beaten together, then coat with breadcrumbs, with seasonings to your taste, and then fry them in a little olive oil.

  4. a brown paper bag and a cool place works well

  5. It will turn red, but it will taste like a store tomato. A store tomato is picked green then gassed to make it turn red. That is the reason store tomatoes don’t taste very good. Why don’t you fry the green tomato. I love green fried tomatoes with bacon and eggs.

  6. Absolutely! It will take a few days, but it will ripen to a nice red tomato.

Now, if you have a lot of green tomatoes in your garden, I found a way to keep them from ripening until December! You can have fresh tomatoes from your garden in the winter.

There are step-by-step instructions in the source listing below.

  7. First of all the windowsill will not ripen the tomato faster than if it was left on the plant. Secondly, if the tomato is too immature it won’t ripen no matter where you put it. It needs to be near the ripening stage or even starting to turn before it will ripen off the plant. Don’t put them on a sunny window sill. They can become overheated and that will lead to early spoilage. Tomatoes will actually ripen faster in a closed brown paper bag with a ripe banana than on a window sill because of the ethylene gas given off from the banana.

  8. Doesn’t have to be on a windowsill. Just put it with a ripe one or as already suggested, a banana. Green ones left without these aids will take ages to ripen and may rot first, but even little immature ones will ripen eventually if ripe ones are present.
