Question by I Love Jesus: Does anyone have a good recipe for SWEET mild TOMATO salsa? thanks ;)?
Ok, i don’t even like black pepper and so far everyone includes peppers. I am not a “cook”, though I can be if I want to, but don’t linger in the culinary arts area 😉 I’ve grown a zillion tomatoes and I once had some salsa that was so good and sweet and tomato based but it was not hot at all, remember I don’t even like black pepper 😉 But this recipe was a mild sweet tomato based salsa. What makes salsa hot, what is the ingredient I need to leave out, definitely jalapeno peppers, anything else ? I think red and green peppers might be Ok, I don’t like to eat them raw, but cooked in. What makes a salsa sweet ? thanks for all your help I will can it 😉 Grandma Wendy who used to can all the time many moons ago and is doing it again now for survival.

salsa means peppers (not black pepper)
Otherwise you’re just making ketchup.
What makes it hot is the seeds and the white pith. If you ream out the center of the peppers, it’s a much milder taste.
Oh and sweet is usually someone adding a little bit of sugar.
