I like to eat cut up tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions in an Itilian dressing type of marinade. It’s good stuff. Not sure about just tomatoes and ice but I’d eat it.
I’m a little confused…but I’d try it.
Does being very cold enhance the tomato’s flavor, I wonder?
Unusual!!! :-)
Looks like a refreshing treat, especially for summer. Thanks for sharing!
Very interesting presentation. I’m sadly not a fan of tomatoes but i LOVE how your recipes look so elegant yet are as simple as can be. <3 tes
Ha ha, interesting! Are the ice for eating also, or just to keep the tomato cold?
Sara…you are awesome but this is your worst salad. cheers
Use normal spaghetti noodles (not thin, not angel hair, ect..)
Use Prego brand sauce, whichever one sounds good to you or seems to match your husband’s taste.
Garden salad (iceberg and romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, celery, crutons, olives,)
Italian Dressing
Don’t forget the garlic bread!!
garden salad with lots of cucumbers fresh mozzarella and vingergrette dressing
I like loose leaf lettuce or one of the really green premade mixes at the supermarket. Add a few grape tomatoes sliced in half, purple onion rings, and garlic croutons. The dressing is simply apple cider vinegar, olive oil, salt, sugar and black pepper. Whish making sure the sugar is disolved and pour onto salad just before serving. Good luck!! Relax and get most of the meal done ahead of time so that you can enjoy your company!
Ceasar salad and spagetti noodles
I like Prego Sun dried tomato and garlic sauce or Prego Italian sausage(if you want some meat…you could also brown a little ground beef and add it to either of them) I likeGood Seasons Italian…it tastes more like homemade…and don’t forget the garlic bread!
Cesear Salad, you can buy them prepackaged if your not sure how. And as for noodles I recommend the fresh bagged kind, found in the cooler section usually by the cheeses. As for suace don’t go cheap or your simply buying sugar and ketsup. You can make your own easy with a can of crushed tomatos, cut fresh mushrooms and onions, green peppers and garlic, season to taste. Don’t forget the bread stix!
Use whole wheat spaghetti (better for you)
Hunts spaghetti sauce in a can is really good or you use another name brand like Prego chunky veggie style for example. If you are cooking for husband and friends and want to make an impression make garlic knots!
GARLIC KNOTS
2 cans of pillsbury bread sticks
unroll and seperate
melted butter- in sm. bowl & add
2 TBS. minced garlic
grated Parm cheese
roll each breadstick into a pinwheel shape and put in butter bowl to coat.. …then..
drop into sm. bowl of cheese and place on cookie sheet to bake according to pckg.
Your hubbie and his friends will love you forever. As for the salad make it fresh about an hour or so before you serve.
Lettuce, red leaf, endive etc..
tomatoes- chopped
onions- cut in rings or chopped
peppers- chopped coarse
cucumbers- sliced w/o peel
carrots – shredded
Add Italian seasoning as well as cilantro, thyme and lemon pepper or whatever combo seasoning you like.
Offer blue Cheese, Italian or Ranch dressing.
Oh and take a few slices of whole grain bread butter each slice and chop into cubes and place into bowl and add Italaian seasoning, cilantro, salt & pepper, parm cheese etc..toss togehter and bake on cookie sheet 1 hour! Homemade croutons!! Good Luck!!
My Spaghetti is different…mainly because my sister has an ulcer and the one sauce cuts down on the acidity of the tomato
2 jars of the best spaghetti sauce(prego or ragu)
1 jar of alfredo sauce(any kind)
1 large can of diced tomatoes
1 can of mushrooms
1 pound ground beef
1 pound pork sausage.
1 pound of thin or regular pasta is the best
Brown the meats together, drain fat. Add some italian seasoning, garlic and pepper.
Mix with sauces, mushrooms and tomatoes and let simmer on low heat(or in a slow cooker) for 30 minutes. The sauce will be lighter colored, but its Delicious!!!
Ceasar salad is the easiest to make.
Garlic bread or cheesy garlic bread.
DONT forget paremesean cheese!!!
Dessert? Simple strawberrys, diced and sweetened with a bit of sugar, spoon over slices of angel food cake and a dollop of whipped cream on top.
Good luck!!!!!
Ok, make it simple and easy. I use thin spaghetti just follow the package instructions add a little butter to keep the noodles for sticking together.
Salad go buy the pre cut salad in bags. Add sliced olives, tomatoes, hard boiled eggs and shredded cheese. Offer a variety of salad dressings. Don’t for get your garlic bread.
Remember these guys will love a home cooked meal. Any thing will be just fine for them. Good luck to you and your guest.
the best sauce next to homemade is to use store bought prego sauce, use spaghetti noodles
then for the salad you could use ranch and/ or blue cheese dressing, a vinegrette is also nice too. below are a few ideas and recipe for them if you need it
3 cups cubed Italian bread, toasted
2 cups washed torn arugula
1 cup chopped seeded tomato
1 cup chopped cucumber
1/2 cup KRAFT Shredded Parmesan Cheese
3/4 cup KRAFT Italian Dressing
TOSS bread with arugula, tomato, cucumber and cheese in a large salad bowl.
ADD dressing just before serving; mix lightly.
Spinach tomato and basil
1-1/2 cups torn spinach leaves
2 small tomatoes, cut into large chunks
1/2 cup peeled cucumber chunks
2 thin slices red onion
1/4 cup KRAFT Sun-Dried Tomato Vinaigrette Dressing
1/4 cup KRAFT Shredded Low-Moisture Part-Skim Mozzarella Cheese
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh basil
PLACE spinach, tomatoes, cucumber and onion in small bowl.
ADD dressing, cheese and basil; toss lightly.
REFRIGERATE 30 min.
dear heather,
number one thing to do first……….breath !!
it’ll be fine.
i suggest buying a pre-packaged Caesar salad mix, throw in some black olives and cherry tomatoes. use a good red-wine vinegar Italian dressing.
i think just regular spaghetti will do well and don’t forget garlic bread sticks.
if the hostess is FRIED it makes your guests uncomfortable.
so relax, have fun.oh, and tell those boys “thank you for your service” from grandma,ok?
