Question by ☮MεlαniεƸ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ¸¸.•*´`☮♡☮♡☮☮♡☮: I’m making French cabbage soup, would black beans be a good add-in?
The soup recipe is: cabbage, ground beef, celery and tomato juice. I thought about adding a can of black beans too. Do you think that would be good?
Oh, it also calls for a bit of sugar and an onion soup mix…sorry…left that out…

no no no
those beans are gonna turn your soup to mush.
those flavors, cabbage and black beans, aren’t complementary either.
use lentils or possibly cracked peas

Looks yummy.
Not really, I would use lentils or barley, or a dried soup mix.
Definetely not, black beans have no place in the french cuisine, so why not adding some peas or lentils?
And as for the onion soup mix, you can always put sliced onions, vinegar and sugar, and let it cook nice and slow.
It sure doesn’t sound good to me. Black beans have a tendancy to overtake most dishes.
I’d choose barley, it’s got a great nutty flavor and will give you all the fiber you’d get from the beans and taste better too.
