Question by Allo: How long should I wait after a tonsillectomy to have hot soup?
I had my tonsils out earlier today and I’m jonesing for some tomato soup. I know I’m supposed to avoid red food/drink and I’m supposed to stick to cold for now… but I was wondering how soon I’ll be able to eat something hot. And red. Don’t forget it’s red. I’m not supposed to eat red things in case I throw up so I can tell if it’s blood or not.
I’m 20 years old now… I really wish they would’ve done this surgery when I was like… 5 or something.

I think I was supposed to wait a day or two its was a couple of years ago that I had my tonsils out though if you are really worried contact your doctor. I couldn’t get anything down after the second day for like a week cause my throat hurt so much but I was 26 when I had it done which is a lot worse than having it done as a kid or even as a teenager.

I would wait 4-5 days. Let them heal pretty good. Especially eating tomatoe soup. It is acidy and you may irritate your throat.
Hope you feel better soon.
