A little experimant I tried, cages win!
Question by violethill: What are some nice vegan sandwich filling ideas?
The type of bread doesn’t matter because I’ve found some really good vegan white, brown, linseed and ciabatta breads.
I only know PB&J so far, and I’m so completely sick of those so I’ve just been having wraps with hummus, cherry tomatoes and cucumber.
Recipes pleaseee!

cages
@GulfCoastJaguarundi Thanks. Well we have the pressure canner now so hopefully I wont waste any.
A lot of rain? Well I did see a large ark float by earlier…haha This is the first year I have ever had any damamge to my tomato plants, so you are probably right, too much rain.
Calcium huh, thanks I will give it a try.
Yeah I ran out of cages too, that is why I just turned it into an experiment.
haha that’s awsome!
We got a lot of water this year and I keep them moist, thanks I did not think of them drying out if caged.
The damage is blossom end rot..did you have a lot of rain? or did you plant thos tomatoes in the same area as last year? Mine in the hangers got blossom end rot..too much water and not enough soil in the hangers…grrrr
That looks like blossom end rot which is caused by calcium deficiency. Try sidedressing with tomato-tone. Good luck.
I’ve always used cages…this year I have too many toms & not enough cages, I’ll film the results (sept-oct)
Im going to cage next season. I did cage a pumpkin by accident.
Same here bro, also with Hank. He just lets them break and topple over, but he also concedes the rabbits get half of them. I cage, but the cage can just dry them out in the hot sun. One of those pathetic looking weeds in my vid to you was indeed a tomato that I watered daily and everything- died like I was the reaper. We been having bad bottom-rot issues too this year.
You can try Tofurky Deli Slices, a meat substitutes that come in many flavours and are delicious and easy to make! Also there is Yves The Good Deli slices, Lightlife Smart Deli slices (also have bacon strips), Field Roast Artisan Grain Meat. Also you could use fried/baked tofu, sieten, tempeh, TVP, avocados, potatoes, carrots, and other vegetables, beans such as black or backed, tempeh bacon, falafel.
Sandwich ideas:
Hummus with shredded carrots and celery with a flour tortilla or pita bread.
Almond butter and bananas.
Rice, avocado, and peanut butter.
PB & J is good, you can spice it up with adding bananas, apples, strawberries, etc to it!
Falafel with hummus on pita bread
Sieten bbq ribz or Mornigstar ribblets.
mayo is bad for you. try diffrnt types of hummus.Tomatoes, cucumbers, alfalfa sprouts, bean sprouts, sliced peppers (sweet or hot), olives, sweet pickles, etc.., the list is endless.
Best ideas I’ve seen so far is potato salad (just have to adjust the recipe a bit), barbecue tofu, asparagus and roasted pepper, basil pesto and peppers, and grilled veggies. Check the source below for some good ideas.
I like whole wheat or seven grain with sprouts and avacado slices maybe some tomatoes or celery or green onion or maybe some green chile. Yummy. experiment. have fun.
well, my mom buys these cool things called Chick’N’strips..
they are meant for stir fry, and taste like chicken, but are made of soy, I use them to make chicken wraps, cuz I’m vegetarian, that with some lettuce and tomato, ;3

Hummous and cucumber
You could use shop bought, but making your own hummous is so easy and stacks cheaper (can you tell I’m doing some serious budgeting right now?). Drain a tin of chick peas, blend with juice of one lemon, 1 tbsp tahini and 1tbsp olive oil. To spice things up a little you could add half a teaspoon of harissa paste, but this is optional. Assemble sandwich as above.
Sundried tomato paste and spinach
Get that blender out again – this time blend 4 sundried tomatoes with 1tbsp of the oil they come in with 2tbsp ground almonds. Spread on bread and put some baby spinach in there.
Stir fried vegetable wrap
Simply put aside some of the stir fried veg that you are using for your evening meal. Prepare in a wrap with a little black bean sauce (not too much, or it becomes quite unmanageable). Eat for lunch the next day.

Peanut butter and banana is my favorite sometimes.
Usually I like to get sub breads and get shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and an italian dressing
and it’s so yummy to me.
You can add other stuff obviously too.
It’s basically a salad in a sandwich, lol.
