Fried green tomato

Azo eats a fried green tomato for the FIRST time EVER!

Question by Cesaria Barbarossa – 40K: What’s a really good but HEALTHY salad to put together?
I normally make a salad that consists of mixed greens, tomatoes, mandarin oranges, cranberries, almonds, coated walnuts and blue chz dressing with raspberry vinegarette. Is this healthy? How bad is the blue chz. I’ve only had oatmeal for breakfast.

If this is absolutely not healthy, what’s an alternative. Thanks!
Oops lol! I meant blu chz, not blu chz dressing lol.

  1. It sounds delicious! Except for the 2 kinds of dressing. I would stick to one–the vinaigrette–as the almonds and walnuts are giving you healthier fats than the blue cheese dressing. Some grilled or roasted chicken or turkey on top would be good and give you protein. Eat it with a whole grain roll or piece of bread, and that’s a very healthy meal.

  2. Make a small to medium sized plate of salad. Have only one small portion of fruit added. Instead, slice a tomato and a carrot. Add sliced green pepper. Omit the coated walnuts and the cheese. Omit the flavored dressing. Season with cracked, black pepper. Dress with one tablespoon of olive oil. How bad anything is depends on your body and your fitness and health goals. What I have written is what I would do based on years of experience.

  3. This is really healthy.
It contains a lot of different vegetables and also contains fats which your body needs.
I’m not sure what the walnuts are coated in but you could swap them for a different protein with less fat like skinless chicken.
Also adding tuna from a can would add protein and it has little fat.
The blue cheese dressing is probably high in calories but seeing as everything else is pretty low then I think you have it well balanced.
As long as you enjoy it and you are not gaining weight from it then I think its perfectly healthy and sounds yummy.

A perfectly healthy salad to me would be:

A selection of vegetables, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, carrots.
Then with half a can on tuna, 1 boiled egg, 2 small boiled potatoes and then with a reduced fat vinegarette.

    Take care x

  4. Have a apple with your oatmeal it will fill you up all the way, bump all that green I do the fruit salads plus it taste way better lol

An orange, apple, banana and a hand full of grapes together are awesome! It’s only 262 calories :)

  5. Hey stranger!

That sure sounds like “healthy carb items” but there’s more to a healthy, balanced diet than just eating that salad.

You have to look at your entire meal plan during the day to be “healthy”. Also, eating well balanced healthy diet is different that an optimal diet for fat loss. Basically, for every goal there’s different things you can do with your macronutrients to make your diet optimal.
