Question by RetroGirl: What is wrong with my tomatoes?
I am growing tomatoes for the first time, and they are just beginning to bear fruit. However, just before they are ready to pick, they are splitting open. We have had extremely hot weather (over 100) for about a week. Could this be the cause? The plants themselves are very healthy looking.

i think u r right hot weather can be a big cause.try to water Ur plants more like 2 times a day and then when the tomatoes r big enough pick them no mater they r too much green ,they will be red in few days after picking ,cos tomato is a fruit which keeps riping when its even picked early.

Irregular watering causes splitting.
Irregular watering or too much fertilizer. The inside is growing faster than the skin causing the splitting. Don’ water them so much. If you have been using fertilizer…cut back on it.
