Question by ♥ǝıƃƃɐW♥: What are some good basic sides for pork chops cooked in tomato juice?
I made pork chops in the slow cooker with tomato juice for dinner. I am having trouble thinking of sides that will not clash with the tomato juice. Thanks in advance for any help!

Thicken the juice with some cornstarch and water to make a gravy. Serve it over rice or mashed potatoes. Serve a side of fresh vegetables like green beans, carrots, zucchini, corn, etc.

  1. I like to have Quinoa as a side with pork chops. It’s a very health alternative to starch rice or potato. You can find it in most grocery stores in the rice isle. I also like asparagus or grilled squash.

  2. garlic mashed potatoes would compliment the tomato juice and apples grilled with sage will compliment the pork.
for the mash, you will need garlic/garlic powder, potatoes, butter and scalded milk. first peel the potatoes, cut in cubes to cook faster and boil with salted water till a fork can get through. drain thoroughly until there is no trace of water or in the same pot without water over low heat, let the potatoes dry stirring frequently so it doesn’t develop colour. turn off the heat, mash, add butter (25 grams per 500 grams potatoes). puree the garlic and mix with milk then scald. if using garlic powder, just add to the mash. then, pour milk mixture into mash and mix well (50mL of milk per 500g of Potatoes)

For the apples, you can use any apple you want. core and cut into quarters and cut the quarters into half again. they should be a bit thin. in a bowl mix olive oil and finely chopped sage and a bit of salt and peper and use it for basting the apples when grilling( you can also just saute them)
and there you have complimenting side dishes
