Question by Kyla: Can I make a good pasta with these ingredients? Any suggestions?
If I make a tomato pasta with these ingredients how do you think it will turn out. I don’t have money for much else.
Pasta
diced roasted tomatoes
tomato sauce
onion
seasonings:
salt
pepper
garlic and herb
maybe some rosemary garlic seasoning
I’m not much of a cook at all so if you think some of these won’t taste good or if you have any suggestions at all please include them in your response.

A decent pasta sauce is not complicated with boatloads of ingredients.
Tomatos, herbs like basil, oregano some garlic, salt and pepper and maybe onions and its good as far as I am concerned.
If you had peppers you can add them too.

  1. Here’s what you can do about your pasta and ingredients1 lb spaghetti (good quality)
    1/2 cup olive oil
    3 -4 cloves garlic (depending on size of cloves)
    1 tablespoon dried parsley or 2 tablespoons fresh parsley
    salt and pepper

    Bring a large pot of water to a brisk boil.

    Add the spaghetti, following directions on the box.

    Meanwhile, heat the oil in a small pan.

    Slice the garlic thinly and add it to the oil.

    remove the pan from the heat when the garlic turns a pale golden color (do not brown the garlic).

    Add the parsley, salt and pepper.

    Reserve 1/2-3/4 cup pasta water.

    Drain pasta & stir in the oil.

    Add the water if you think the mixture is too dry.

  2. You are pretty well stocked. If it is tomato sauce (and not paste) throw it out–awful metallic stuff. The other thing would be to avoid over seasoning. The basic recipe is small amount of oil (olive?) and one or two mashed cloves of garlic, then the tomatos, basil, salt pepper. You could also add chopped onion to the frying garlic. A little rosemary will give it a different taste. Taste as you go and you will not go wrong.
