Question by swtbaby289: What’s the difference between stewed and peeled tomatoes?
I’m making a chicken and pasta dish and I have very little and don’t have any stewed tomatoes which is what the recipe calls for. All I have is stewed. Would it be that big of a difference if I used peeled petite instead of stewed?
Is that it? The only difference is that the stewed tomatoes are cooked? Are tomatoes in one bigger than in the other? I’m sorry but I’m not the best cook in the world.

stewed tomatoes are cooked

A peeled tomato has the skin removed and stewed tomatos were out drinking all night
No,
it will taste the same…. I switch them around all the time.
The peeled petite will be softer and more prone to becoming mushy, so put them in as late as possible.
It wouldn’t be a big deal, but you would have to cook your sauce for a little longer. Peeled have the skins removed, and stewed have been cooked so they’re softened and juicier.
stewed tomatoes are factory precooked…and peeled are just peeled and canned…use the peeled but cook them in a pot with a little olive oil for a bit…then add a little water and cover them for a while…your recipe should turn out fine.
real chefs dont use canned or pre cooked maters, so think about it…you can use the peeled ones just fine.
no, stewes have been cooked with other igredients, the tiny tomatoes are generally by themselves, its all good, add somegarlic and onion. okay.
Stewed have been cooked. Pealed are still raw.
Stewed tomatoes may be cooked with skins on or off and many times they have added ingredients such as spices, onions, and peppers to add flavor. Peeled are peeled and simply cooked by themselves. Peeled and/or deseeded tomatoes are generally smoother to puree. Some people have more trouble digesting the skins of vegetables such as tomatoes and peppers. It is simply a matter of personal preference which you may prefer. I use them pretty much interchangeably, depending on what I have at the time in my pantry. Take your pick and enjoy!
