Well most of the vitamis and minerals of course this varies with exactly which salad vegetables you are consumming .
I think the main thing is not too much dressing as this can mke some of the vitamins less aeffective .
Do use cider vinegar and lemon juice insted of normal vinegar as this is very healthful

The first answerer is full of caca. Lettuce most certainly does not rot in your gut. Meat does, that’s why it’s known to cause colon cancer. Rather than extole the virtues of salads (there are too many to list), I’ll just let you figure it out on your own. Visit this site for more: http://www.drmcdougall.com
Read all the success stories of folks who were dying of this and that, and started eating vegetables. You’ll be amazed at what they can do for you. Like I said, there are too many things to list.
Salads are great for a number of reasons.
1. If you have a salad without cheese, croutons or heavy dressing they are extremely low cal. A plain green salad without dressing runs on the average 45 calories.
2. Salad greens are high in insoluble fiber. This will help lower your cholesterol levels. The fiber also fills you up without hardly adding any calories to your diet and keeps you full for a pretty long time.
3. Salad greens are also high in water which helps contribute to your daily water intake. Water is needed to flush out the fat from your system and hydrate cells.
4.The fiber in the salads help move waste out of the colon. This can help you possibly avoid colon cancer.
5. Salad greens also have nutrients that other vegetables don’t have. These nutrients are important to your body.
6. Salads are eaten raw. Your diet should consist of 20% raw food. Since we no longer have a safe food system salad greens are one of the few items that you can eat safely once washed properly.
I could go on and on but the above are the main benefits of salads. Once you add in tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers etc, your salad packs even a more nutritiuos punch!
Salads contain fiber. Fiber can help you avoid overeating. We’ve also found that fiber can bind with cholesterol in the digestive tract, thus lowering blood cholesterol.
Another important point about fiber-rich foods is that they tend to be loaded with phytochemicals that appear to have anticancer functions, says Kumar
“Pertaining to cancer, we’ve found 65 or so non-nutrients and nutrients that have action against cancer,” she says. “We’ve seen soy, lycopene, bicarbanol, to name just a few of these, have significant effect against various cancers.”
Along with these benefits and its role in weight maintenance, fiber helps prevent the following:
Constipation
Hemorrhoids
Appendicitis
Diverticulosis — an intestinal disease where pockets, which can become infected, develop in the intestinal lining
