Question by Jackie Pierce: Tomato plants wilting just planted yesterday?
We planted our cherry tomatoes and early girl tomatoes yesterday in our greenhouse… Today we went out and they are all wilted and dead looking… We are in northern idaho. Why?! Well everything is wilting the cayanne jalapeños cantalope brocoli and celery.. Is all wilting? I don’t understand!

If it is sunny it can get pretty hot in a greenhouse. Are you ventilating? Freshly transplanted plants are especially sensitive to heat stress. They will need plenty of water without drowning them (drainage is needed) until they are reestablished.
Don’t worry they will do just fine. When farmers plant tomatoes, we are talking thousands upon thousands during one day, the plant gets one shot of water as the bare root plant is placed into the ground and the dirt closes around it. The next day you go out to the field and they are all laying over as if they died. Come back in a day or two and all of them are up as if nothing happened. So, hang in there. Heck, they are going to live or die, right?
They may not be used to so much sun. Maybe you need some shade cloth or some jury-rigged shade. I agree with the person who said they will come back if they were watered. My transplants that I potted up into bigger pots llaid over dead yesterday, and were all perky this morning.
