Question by saved_by_grace: Does anyone have a tomato based dressing recipe?
I am looking for a certain one but I can’t find it. It is not catalina or russian dressing recipe. It is made with homemade type marinara, lots of garlic, red pepper flakes and I don’t know what all else (possible lemon juice…I don’t taste vinegar)? I get it at my local Italian restaurant (of course they aren’t telling). It is their house dressing.

I’m sure this is not the dressing your restaurant uses. But perhaps, armed with a starting point you can nudge it closer to theirs. I imagine since you mentioned “marinara” the restaurant uses a canned tomato base rather than fresh tomato. I love that kind of research!
Ingredients
3 tomatoes, peeled seeded and finely chopped
1/3 cup tomato juice
1 garlic clove, crushed
2 scallions, finely chopped
3 tablespoons parsley, chopped
1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
1 tablespoon lemon juice
4 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/2 cup olive oil
salt and pepper
Directions
1. combine all ingredients in medium bowl.
2. chill for 1 hour.
3. Serve over a garden fresh salad and enjoy!
Are you sure it has marinar sauce in the recipe?
This is the only one that I can find that I know is really good. But no marinara…. sorry
