Question by My Psychosis: Help with German queen tomatoes?
I am growing German queen, Roma, Celebrity, and Cherry tomatoes. All are ripening but the German queens. They are still very green. I have never seen a German queen before do they stay green, or just take a long time to ripen?
They are getting the same sun as the others. (They are in the same garden) and they are very large, larger then any ordinary tomato I’ve seen.
Do you have any idea when they will be ripe. How long it takes? I’m in Iowa and we don’t usualy frost tell the middle or last of October, if that helps.

No, German Queens are pink.

Are they getting the same conditions as the others? If so, they’re probably just a late season variety.

  1. They will ripen. German Queen take about two weeks longer to ripen than do the romas and cherries. You have plenty of time for them to ripen. That is assuming you planted them at the same time. They are a wonderful heirloom tomato. I know you will love their flavor and make sure to save some of their seeds for next year. This link may help you.
