Question by Bert Weidemeier: How do I keep deer away from tomato plants?
In a couple of weeks, I am going to be planting tomato plants in my garden, and wanted to know how to keep the deer from eating the plants. Last year they ate all the flowers and 2 small shrubs in the same garden in the back yard. I don’t want to poison them or destroy them, i just want to keep them away from my garden.
Thanks for your help…

What my dad did was he got some BOBBEX DEER REPELLENT & PLANT NUTRIENT. Believe me, there are tons of deer on our mountain that love to come to our yard. The deer repellent he got did not harm the deer or the plants, it just kept them away. So this stuff should work for you also.
Hope I helped!

My name is Lycopersicon esculentum but I am better known as tomato by my English-speaking friends. South of the border, I am known as el tomate and surprisingly, I am also known as tomate or Tomaten in German. My closest relatives are Solanum tuberosum, better known as pome de terre, spud, or potato and Solanum melongena also known as eggplant, berenjena among my Spanish-speaking friends and Aubergine by my German-speaking friends.
The only effective way is a high fence or an electric fence.
I have a garden that essentially serves as a super highway for a herd of 10-24 deer at a time. I have put my tomato plants in containers on my sunny deck this year. I’m expecting this will solve the deer problem as they would have to climb they wooden steps to get to the plants, which I doubt they will do. It does limit the number of tomato plants I can plant, but I usually only plant 4-6 anyway. Have you tried a product called Plant Skyd? My friends tell me it deters rabbits and deer for up to 2 months. I find if you alternate products, you have better luck. I’ve also used shavings of Irish Spring soap around the garden. Sometimes I’ve used a product called Liquid Fence (coyote pee) on alternate weeks. You have to be diligent about using the products on an alternate week basis or it won’t work. Plus, your neighbors won’t be very happy with you the first day of spraying, so best to let them know what’s going on. Good luck!
Try BioDefend Deer and Rabbit Repellent. It’s an all-natural repellent that blends naturally offensive odors and flavors with Extendex to deter the deer but not harm them.
check it out ..there must be some plants that deer stay away from.so you can mix your tomato plant with it and have deers saty away from your garden.
