Question by *- Car Lover Babe -*: How many calories should i be burning and eating a day?
Ive recently started going to the gym.. A LOT and ive been getting used to burning 500 calories whilst there and doing a few weights. But in the last two days ive burnt 700 calories each time. But ive heard you need to eat about 1,500 calories to loose weight. Its all a bit confusing to me and i dont think i can eat 1,500 calories a day.

I mean today ive had 2 slices of toast with a little butter, then i went to the gym in the afternoon and did 700 calories and a few weights. then i came home and had tomato soup and 2 little bits of garlic bread.
Tonight for dinner i will be having a small pork chop with new potatoes.

Im not sure how many calories im taking in, but most of the time each day i cant eat a lot.

What is the best way to do this? or can i just carry on as i am.

I have been going to the gym everyday apart from sunday and maybe a day during the week. But when i go i normally spend an hour and a half – 2 hours.

Thanks

That is impossible to know because everyone’s metabolism is different. The general rule of thumb is that you need to aim for burning more than you take in, but in some people that can cause their bodies to store fat.

What you don’t need to do is be obsessed with counting calories because all that is going to do is stress you out and stress causing you to store body fat. Instead, be mindful of what you eat and exercise consistently.

-Avoid sugary and starchy foods-opt for whole grains and slow digesting carbs to avoid glucose spikes. In other words don’t eat white bread, eat whole wheat (not plain wheat). No sugar-based sodas and deserts. Stay away from potatoes, white rice, and common pastas. Instead, use sweet potatoes (great substitute and can actually aid weightloss), brown rice, and whole wheat or brown rice pasta.

-Increase fiber. You can start by taking Metamucil to increase your digestive movement which lowers the amount of fat that is absorbed (for best results, take immediately after a meal). Make sure to eat lots of vegetables, fruits (in moderation) , and nuts and beans. Stay away from cereal grains, they have a lot of hidden sugar.

-Increase protein- Lean meats, non-dairy forms of milk, beans, and nuts all help increase metabolism and muscle building (which displaces fat)

-Use supplements like multivitamins to replace any diminished nutrients and maintain cardio balance.

-Alcohol in moderation. Alcohol decreases your body’s ability to burn fat and tends (depending on your drink of choice) to have a lot of empty calories.

Best of luck!

  7. On average, people eat 1,800-2,200 without exersize to maintain their weight.

  8. Big misconception, when you workout you need to eat more carbs and protein. An average diet is based on 2000 calories a day, if you have an intensive workout it should be 2500 calories a day.
