Question by voodewchile: Is it perfectly acceptable to drink tomato juice and vodka?
by itself? Is this a true bloody mary? Sometimes I don’t have all the spices and stuff laying around, so it’s just tomato juice and vodka.

Sure, it’s fine. A spiced tomato juice or V8 is also fine. Adding spices from your cupboard is cool, too–try some cumin and a dash of Tabasco. Ole!

  1. Sure. It’s not a true Bloody Mary, but it tastes a whole lot better. I made the original Bloody Mary recipe from the Mr. Boston Bartender book and I didn’t care for it. Something about alcohol being hot and spicy just didn’t cut it.

I like vodka with tomato juice and a twist of lemon, and a celery stalk for a swizzle stick. Breakfast of champions!

  2. Sure there is no right or wrong way to make a bloody mary, just whatever you want.I bet V-8 juice would be good like the other lady mentioned.

  3. Meh, who cares! Tomato juice and vodka is just fine, I think! I personally like to use Absolut New Orleans (a mango/pepper blend), v8 lemon, and some garlic/sea salt and dash of rainbow peppercorn. Yum.

  4. Sure, you can have them however you want.

I personally like them with a bit of heat and spice, but if you like them that way, drink them that way!

No rules about what you can or can’t eat or drink . . . enjoy what you like and what makes you happy.

  5. Tomato juice and vodka with some hot sauce, woo sauce, sea salt, and bitters, with celery stick to stir. Served in a Collins glass of course. Bon appetite!

  6. horseradish can be added to give it that extra kick, some people add a dash of sherry, and a bloody ox is with a dash of beef bouillion ( that one doesn’t appeal),

  7. Sure! Everyone changes the recipe to suit what they like.

  8. Yeah….. it tastes good that way 2…..

  9. If you enjoy it, it’s perfectly fine, but Bloody Marys are typically meant to be made with spices and seasonings to make it more savory.

  10. That is quite acceptable. Make sure to add a dash of Tabasco, a pinch of dill and whatever else that sounds good.
