Question by : Am I sabotaging my diet by using tomato paste to make sauce for whole wheat pasta?
I love pasta but I’m trying to lose weight so I bought some whole wheat pasta. I feel like it tastes terrible by itself and need to start making a sauce with it.

My question, is using tomato paste to make a sauce fattening and completely canceling out all the nutrients of the whole grain pasta?

Using ANY pasta is sabotaging your diet!! Much more so than the tomato paste or tomato sauce or any other tomato product.

Tomato is NOT fattening and is really high in nutrients like vitamin C!!

Grains and cereals are what we feed our animals to get them fat for the market so the butcher can trim off the fat!! think about it!! I feed my beeves and lambs whole grains to fatten them up for market.

  1. It’s not fattening but canned produce usually contains unhealthy amount of sodium which will make you retain water. You should use diced, fresh tomatoes and other choice of vegetables, stir fried in a little olive oil and mix it with the pasta.

  2. There is nothing fattening about a basic tomato sauce. Cooked tomatoes are actually better for you than raw tomatoes.
