Question by Margso: Are my tomato plants huge?
My cherry and beefsteak tomatoes are taller than I am. I’m about 5’9″ and my plants ate at least 2 feet taller than I am! Is this normal?
PS they’re still growing.

  1. Which Dyna Grow did you use? Bloom or Grow?

  3. My cherry tomato plant is just as high! It’s along the side of the garage and hits the roof!

  4. Indeterminate varieties average 6-8 feet but can go as high as 10 or even more. Determinate varieties average 3-4 feet, some will make 5 feet.

(( Tomatoes are determinate if they eventually form a flower cluster at the terminal growing point, causing the plant to stop growing in height. Plants that never set terminal flower clusters, but only lateral ones and continue indefinitely to grow taller are called indeterminate.))

To see if your tomato species is determinate, and if it’s normal that it has grown so high, check out this list.. it will tell you..: http://gardening.wsu.edu/library/vege008/vege008.htm

  5. Indeterminate varieties, if staked or tied to a wire support, can easily get that high. Indeterminate simply put, means that they don’t stop growing until they die from frost or you pull them out. Be glad you’re having such success.

  6. Yes that’s normal. They are indeterminate. I had a cherry tomato plant once reach 12 feet
