You can try a nice chinese egg drop soup:
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
4 cups chicken broth or homemade stock
2 tomatoes, cut into 6 equal pieces
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
Salt to taste
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 -2 green onions, washed and cut on the diagonal into thirds
Preparation:
In a wok or saucepan, bring the 4 cups of chicken broth to a boil. Add the tomatoes, sugar, white pepper, and salt. Cook for about one more minute. Very slowly pour in the eggs in a steady stream. Use a fork to gently stir the eggs in a clockwise direction until they form thin streams or ribbons. Garnish with green onion and serve hot.
Egg Drop Soup With Tomato Variations:
(These would all be added after the tomato and seasonings. Let the soup cook for a few more minutes before adding the eggs).
*1 teaspoon of cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons of water. Stir to thicken.
**1/2 cup frozen peas.
***If you are preparing the soup for someone who is ill, try adding a slice of fresh, grated ginger. Among its many benefits, ginger is believed to be helpful in treating colds and flu.

Have you noticed that you almost NEVER see tomatoes in Chinese-American cuisine except when they’ve been carved into decorations? Yet tomatoes are a dime a dozen in America during the summer.
You could add cooked rice to it, a revolting conconction served in schools in the 1960s and 1970s when I was growing up.
You could add soy sauce to it, but since the soup is already coming from a can, the concoction would it is so loaded with salt you’ll need to start taking Ace Inhibitors for your blood pressure.
You could add cooked shrimp or chicken, but I’ll pass, thanks, as probably will most others.
Your best bet is fresh bean sprouts, but even that sounds repellent. The tomato, much less tomato soup, doesn’t register on the Chinese palate; they use them for carved floral decorations at banquets, or possibly for their little “quick and dirty” salad bars.
Sorry I couldn’t be any help. Maybe somebody else will have a suggestion. Remember, you don’t want to create something that will have people lining up at the bathroom.
Hi menaka,
Well, soup is a easy recipe. first of all you need to do is to fry a lot of onions and tomato (not too much) top up with veg stock or water boil for about 2 hours , also have some potatoes mashed to thicken soup when its boiled . Add potatoes till its as thick as you want (do this while blendinging all you ingredients ) dont forget salt and pepper and enjoy. I got this delicious soup recipe from
