I grow cherry tomatoes in mine and my husbands back yard and I would not prune them. You could try a few to see what you think but they are better tasting and healthier un-pruned.

  1. I have 8 cherry tomato plants that are over 6 feet tall right now. I pick 40 t0 50 every other day. I never have pruned any of my tomato plants.

  2. I grow cherry tomatoes every year & have never pruned one yet. I get extremely good yields from them.

The nearest I get to pruning any tomato plant in my garden is to remove the bottom growth, when they are very small & before they are bearing. I do this so the plant has a bit of a clear stalk, before reaching the fruit bearing branches.

  3. they need a frame to support the branches , they are designed to grow big.
