Question by Snow Drop: I have a soup question?
I’m planning to make tomato soup but at the end the recipe says serve with olive oil. Does this mean pour some olive oil over the soup at the end? Is this normal? I’ve never made soup before and have no idea.
Thanks everyone for all your help!

You don’t have to serve with olive oil. Its optional but I recommend you to put it in at the end for smell and whatnot.

I HAVE USE THIS TYPE STRAINER FOR YEARS OVER 40, THE HANDLE IS VERY EASY TO TURN, I STEAM MY TOMATOES 5 MINUTES AND WORKS GREAT AND SO EASY. ALSO MAKES GREAT APPLESAUSE! HAVE FUN GLAD THEY ARE STILL AROUND DIANE WHO NOW LIVES IN MEXICO. STILL CANNING AFTER 45 YEARS.
I want to know can you water bath all that you made don’t have a P cooker
You are a very hard working woman. I enjoy learning from you and from your mistakes. Lol it makes me want to give it a try because you always figure it out. Thanks
Thank you! You are awesome! I appreciate all your videos.
I added the seasonings to the tomato soup so it has to be pressure canned. But you can do sauce. Blessings!
Once your done with the victoria use a strainer and the juice will fall through and you’ll be left with the sauce. No need to take the time to cook it down. Blessings!
when you made the taco sauce did you just add the seasoning to the juice or the sauce. and did you water bath can it or pressure can it.
have never done this and my pressure canner is waiting for a new weight and my tomatoes are cut up ready to have something done to them.
thanks a million times in advance.

I missed something here….I see the bowl where all the pulp, skins are going…I see the bowl where all the juice is going…..so where did the bowl of sauce come from? Sorry if I’m being dense!!
Very neat! I for the first time last year canned diced and stew tomatoes but I am hoping this year to try tomato juice and tomato ketchup and tomato sauce.
That is some good soup almost have to make more already. Blessings!
how did i miss this one…thanks again..
Next time I would have dehydrated and then ground into powder don’t know what I was thinking just throwing it away gezzzz Blessings!
Hi! What do you do with your tomato waste? I saw a vid once and they sesoned the pulp up from a juicer and made little crakers out of it using a dehydrator, I haven’t tried it yet but it looked good! Nice video, I enjoy. I just got my pressure canner and was searching for canning meat videos.
in al the vidos you have done why do we never get to see your face i think it would be nice to see the real you . hope to see u !!
sweet I’m gonna have to try that. Love suggestions to make life easier Blessings!
if you roast the tomatoes in the oven a while they go through easier too.
the machine is great for applesauce. just wash them leave the skin, seeds and stems on. bake the apples at 350 to 400 degrees covered until they turn super soft, let cool a little and run through the machine. two thirds golden delicious and one third fugi makes a very good applsauce. i can it plain just like that.
It would have worked better if I had paid more attention to imstillworkin’s video on how to use it LOL. No really it was alot easier than I made it look and it really saved on cooking down time. Blessings!
So after using this machine is it worth the cost and effort?
Would love a video of what machines/tools are worth the cost + effort and which ones are just a waste of time and effort!
Hey Mrs. Mama Prepper! I noticed that you had that same problem with your grinder(the table). See if you can screw a piece of plywood or 2 to the top and bottom of your machines. It might work out that you can put it on the end. Let me know if it does! Thanks 4 all your wonderfulness!
thank you for such an honor. Usually the ones without a guage are pressure cookers not pressure canners. That is unless they have a weight marked 5, 10 and 15. Pressure cookers can’t be used for canning since the pressure can’t be controlled. So look for one with a guage and/or weight and you will be set. Blessings!
i am looking at buying a pressure caner. the one i can afford now so i dont have to pass on sales has no pressure gauge. what is the difference between the one with the gauge and without? i am new to caning and seen tons of vids but no one says anything about this. thanks for all your insight. your turning into the sister i never had with all the awesome vids you share.
Your so welcome. Blessings!
I like this video just for the table trick. I’d been wondering what to do! Thank you thank you!!

It is alot of work but so worth it. Love my Victorio strainer, it works great for apple sauce too. It cut your work in half. Thank you for all your videos. God Bless
That works I just prefer to wash all my jars after so that I don’t attract critters at the retreat. Blessings!
Yes, you’re too drizzle a bit over each serving to add flavor. it’s like adding any other garnish on a finished serving.
I cook quite a bit but I have never heard of putting oil on top of tomato soup!
drizzling a few drops of evoo on top of the soup once it’s in individual bowls will enhance the flavor and make a nice garnish because it will float atop the soup.
No need to serve with olive oil an all.It ll change the taste.Move on with bread crimps. It ll do better:-)
Add some large croutons and drizzle olive oil over top. yum
I think the main reason for the oil is the aesthetics… To be honest, I cant think of anything worse than having to drink Oil off the top of my soup….
You could use cream/sour cream drizzled on top in a spiral with black pepper/Parsley instead….. At least that would taste nice as well as look nice!
Good luck x
