Question by lauren: Is it possible for a single plant to have differing stele patterns in the root and stem?
I am trying to determine the root and stem stele type for Solanum lycopersicum (cherry tomato). I think that the stems are eustelic since it has bicollateral vascular bundles but all the images I’ve seen for the roots appear to be protosteles. If a single plant can only have 1 stele pattern then I must be wrong somewhere. Please also help me verify the proper stele arrangements for the plant. Thanks!

The xylem/phloem arrangements are different in the root and stem of a plant.
