Cherry tomato plant sucker question?

Cool food.

Question by belle: I want to grow tomatoes as hanging plants. Any advice?
I gave up major vegetable gardening but I love fresh tomatoes and cukes in the summer. As vining plants they should grow ok in hanging baskets, last summer I tried it with cherry tomatoes. My main concern is the strength of the vines as they hang down over the edge of the pot. Also what kind of crop can I expect? Do I want several pots?

Look into growing them out the bottom of hanging buckets…

  1. thanks, that sounds better :) beware of tomato horn worm!

  2. I’m still a little confused and doing research on this myself. From what I have seen, the suckers will produce fruit, but will take away from the other fruits growth. Also, removing the suckers will allow more sunlight to the overall plant.

  3. If your gonna do that, just buy those topsy turvy things.
