Question by raisenet: How should I clean a scorched pot or pan?
Unfortunately my wife left the burner on, with tomato soup in the pot. After dinner I noticed it was on so I turned it off, but now the pot is scorched. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Toss it, buy a new one?
Soak it in water for a while then try an S.O.S. pad on it…
oven cleaner, as long as it’s not teflon.
I love to cook and have been for years and years, unfortunitly we all have made mistake in the kitchen….what works for me is that I try and scrape as much of scortched food out of it….put enough water in the pan to cover the scorched food, then add some dish detergent and put back on stove and let simmer for a little while, checking and scraping away small amounts of the scorched food, it may be a little work…but pan will come clean, good luck!!
put some hot water in it along with a dryer sheet or fabric softener. I think a dryer sheet works best. Leave it about 30 min and it will wipe right off.
I agree with putting it on the stove, adding water and dish soap, and letting it simmer for a while. That’s always worked for me!
Put the pot back on the stove with strong dish washing liquid and bring to boil, remove all the goods that came loose and then use bicarbonate of soda and hot water. Leave to stand for an hour and clean normally. Good luck
When this happens use a Tablespoon of baking powder. Put enough warm water to cover the stain, then add the warm water. You can add more baking powder , just depends on how bad the stain is. Leave like this for 10-15 min´s , then wash as normal . This will lift the stain out
