The restaurant has to pay around $ 20 of taxes on a fifth of liquor. Then add a profit, storage and an employee to make it, and not forget about the cost of the liquor.
Don’t forget the hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, celery and the labor to put it all together, to serve it to you and to wash the glass after you are done. Then there is the energy to make and keep the ice and to power the dish washer and the water used and on and on and on.

And that is why it’s better to just drink at home.
That’s cheap, we charge like $ 7 depending on the vodka of choice, I prefer Absolut Pepar. and if you want a good one you better tip good too! 😉 Alcohol is a huge mark up but if you don’t wanna pay you could make one at home but what fun is that?? Where is it only $ 5.99 any way?
And if you make it with just tomato juice and vodka its not gonna be too tasty.
Um becaus everythings expensive in a restaurant or bar if Its alcohol, Why are martinis so expensive when they are super small?! Same thing, because they can be.
The restaraunt has to make a profit somehow. They have to pay for the liquor license so that way they can continue selling you alcohol, pay, the water bill, electricity, buy cleaning products and bar gear, pay out the employees, run maintenance, pay for gas run equipment etc. That is why such a simple drink is expensive.
But good news! Most restaurants have a great happy hour. You should look into that and see where you should go for your next drink so you don’t have to spend so much.
also, the more ice you have in a drink the less mixer, so you are getting a fair amount of liquor. Alot of people think they are getting less liquor and more mix if its packed with ice but its the other way around.
