In this video, Green Thumb 775 plants her tomato plants and shows what items she adds to the soil. Seems to work, she has big healthy plants that produce a l…
Question by chaoticresolution: Leaves on tomato plant are wilting, some leaves are turning yellow?
I’m still learning about gardening, so I’m unsure of what this means for my tomato plant. It’s a patio tomato plant that just started showing signs of fruit. Yesterday the leaves appeared fine, and today almost all of them are starting to wilt. A few leaves on the bottom are brown at the tips and turning yellow further toward the stem (not much yet).
What could be the cause of this? Have they been overwatered? I live in the southeast, and we were hit with some rain that took the nighttime temperatures to about 50F, so I wonder if that could have also been a contributing factor.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Too much water. Leaves curling UP on the edges (rather than down), and yellowing, starting at the bottom of the plant, is a classic sign of overwatering.
The night time temps in the 50’s may slow down the rate of growth, but will not cause any damage or yellowing.

Hey twbigdogsgirl, thanks for the complement!, the wife has been using that for a bit, i hope everything comes back from the cold snap well….. thanks for watching!….
Nice vid guys! Good to see the whole family helping out!!! Is this a type of plant you have used in the past, does it give a good yield ?
Your little garden looks great. I also use the Epsom Salts for my tomatoes. They do so much better than without. I have got to go get some tomato plants and probably some more pepper plants. I think that the cold snap got mine.
I agree it is definitely been overwatered, those are classic signs. The temp should not really effect your plant, but I would check your pot to make sure that the soil drains well. If it seems to be holding to much water, lift it off of the ground, and press the soil down to let drain, then you can consider possibly taking a plastic plate or a pie tin that you can flatten out to be the same size as your planter and cutting a slit and hole in it to put right around the base and out to the edge of the pot and then you can just water directly around the stem, this will help prevent the rain from over watering your plant
