  1. I can’t wait to see them in the ground. They are huge.

  2. If my weather doesn’t improve soon my tomato plants will be taking a truck
ride too in the garbage truck. We got soaked again today and it turned cold
on top of it. Your plants look great, I know you’ll be glad to get them in
    the ground.

  3. I will be glad to send some of this triple digit hot your way 😉 It was
kinda odd this year that our Cherry tomato plant ended up turning at the
same time as our romas, and early girls. Our Big Boy and Jubilee are still
getting there. The big boys are living up to their namesake.

  4. YAY finally garden time!!! Happy for you.. TJ

  5. Awww it’s that time if year again… Huge tomato pants on the 40 something
mile ride in the back of the truck.

  6. We plant marigolds in our garden as a natural pest deterrent. It has worked
for years. We give away a lot of tomatoes. The children at the river call
me the Tomato man. We started them from seed on the 21st of March. 66 days
later they are in the ground. I try and plant them 60 days before I plan to
    put them in the ground.

  7. imstillworkin: We put 19 in the ground yesterday and 20 today. I still have
13 more to plant. We did 40′ of cukes. I hope to have 1/2 of the garden
done by next weekend. And I was going to have fewer plants this year. You
should get a little relief from the rain this week and we both should get a
little warmer temp. I watch the radar for us and for you every time I look.
You get it when we don’t. I still don’t miss the drought we had last year.

  8. You can have all the snow. I am looking for some sunshine and some hot
days. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  9. Good lawdy, those mater plants are on steroids!! Very nice and good idea
with the trashcans!! You’re gonna have tomatoes coming from everywhere!! I
also absolutely love marigolds and their smell!! Thumbs up to ya!!

  10. Will you be growing watermelons this year ?

  11. Those are some big matter plants. :) Mother Nature decided we needed a
pinch more snow up here in the northeast tonight. :-/

  12. PJ: I did a little video of them after we finished putting them in the
ground. My neighbor at the river garden said it looked like a instant
garden with 2′ tall tomato plants suddenly appearing.

  13. I hope to get one by the 4th of July. We usually a cherry tomato first. I
finally got 39 tomato plants in the ground this week end. Now it just needs
to turn hot and they will take off. We still have 13 more to plant and I
was going to plant fewer this year. We can’t wait for a mater sandwich.

  14. You need a helper for all that. I just harvested two more early girl
tomatoes out of my main bed to have with my lunch. Looks like we have a
dozen or so more ripening today or tomorrow to have with our family meal. I
look forward to watching yours ripen.

  15. TJ: We finally got 39 of them in the ground and a few cukes. I hope to rest
up for a day and work on the garden Tuesday.

  16. Shelia: They were were a little shorter than the ones we grew last year. I
still have about 18″ of roots and stem in the ground and about 2′ above
ground. Some less and a few more. We should have a tomato in about 35 days
    and we can’t wait.

  17. You have some great looking plants. What do you use as soil to grow them so
    healthy?

  18. I will be growing my favorite again this year. Ali Baba I hope to break my
record of 25 pounds this summer. They are a great tasting watermelon. The
drought hurt us last year with our melons.

  19. First I buy high quality seeds. I use 50% aged sifted compost and 50% Pro
Mix. When they get their first true leaves I give them a deluted Miracle
Grow liquid in a spray bottle. I spray the soil and never spray the
foliage. I do not give them Miracle Grow full strength until they are about
    24″ tall.
