Glock .45 vs Tomato juice cans!

Glock .45 vs Tomato juice cans!

Question by Jim B: How can I cure my dog’s constant itching?!?
We have tried frontline, both mite and flea prescription shampoo, changing his diet to expensive hypoallergenic dog food and a few other things where he scratches so much he chaifs his hair off. Nose, mouth, ears, neck, legs, back…

Yes I have taken to the vet, problem is we are peace corps volunteers living in Mexico and things are a bit different here as you can imagine. If someone tells me to bath him in tomato juice I will try that at this point…

Maybe he is allergic to something? i know dogs can be allergic to dust mites.. but not sure what can be done about it, maybe ask your vet if it could possible be due to an allergy (:

  1. you let vet skin test for allergies
    you feed grain free food
you wash in tomato juice if it works
use anti itch shampoo not flea
    use anti itch lotions/sprays
use what ever you think may work
    oatmeal baths
mine does better with grain frre foofs and a pill from vet starts with a c and about a foot long

    good luck

  2. he may have fleas.take him for a flea dip.then make sure he is clean.he may have a allergy

  3. Unfortunately, unless they have access to testing for mites, ringworm, etc it’s going to be a trial and error basis to try and figure out what exactly is causing the constant itching. If your vet has access to prescribe out an antihistamine you can go that route as well.

  4. Do you notice fleas on him? If so, try Comfortis, an oral once a month pill. It will get rid of the fleas. He could be allergic to the flea bites and when dogs have that allergy, they are miserable. Check the dog food and see if there are any grain products in it. Some dogs are very allergic to wheat. No, the tomato juice is reserved for skunk sprays and that doesn’t work so I won’t recommend that.

  5. If you have been to the vet, tried grain free diets, and there are no fleas or skin conditions, then there’s not much else!

The vet needs to do some allergy tests and skin scrapes. Also, do you know if your dog hangs out in particular patches in the garden? If you have got rid of the fleas, you need to make sure they don’t come back – it’s not good treating a dog for fleas if they can just hop back on. Bedding and environment also need to be treated.

Finally, are there any plants around that your dog could be sensitive to? I had that problem with my dog – she came in all itchy one day, and I figured out one of the plants in my garden was known to cause reactions in dogs.
