  1. The taste is different. Ripe greens will not be tart. There are many recipes on the net for green tomatoes. I enjoy salsa made with them. There is a lot of jam recipes too. You can make them into sauces or pickle the small ones.

  2. Slice them thick.

    Dip in beaten egg.

Dip in nice crumbs or flour.

Fry in 1/2 butter and 1/2 oil. Salt and pepper lightly while frying. They will test done like zuccini or apples. Soft and will not yield to a fork or knife tip. You can season them with a pinch of nutmeg OR some italian seasoning.

    They are amazing.

  3. Fried Green Tomatoes

Unless they are Zebra Green stripes Heirlooms, green tomatoes are unripe tomatoes.

  4. bread them with italian bread crumbs and fry. serve with a honey mustard dressing for dipping

  5. you can cut them in quaters and pickle them put in ajar cover with vinagar pickling spices clove of garlick chunk of onion let it sit for a few days or you can fry them slice them flour them dip in mixed egg and then bread crumbs fry in oil.

  6. Grilled…….Slice into thick steaks like 1/2 inch brush with olive oil sprinkle with salt and pepper.. Place on a hot BarBQ grill Cook for a couple of minutes to get grill marks on both sides. They should still be crunchy. That tart taste goes very well with grilled steaks. My wife and I enjoy this a lot

  7. Of what i know you can usually make hot sauce with green tomatoes…

  8. make a salsa. You can boil the tomatos or roast them. Roast some red chiles (u can find them in a hispanic store) called chile de arbol or chile japones. Put in blender with one or two garlic cloves and some salt. If too thick u can add a liitle bit of water…..

  9. are they tomatillos?

funny thing, tomatillos are not really tomatoes. they are a member of the gooseberry family.

you can make a killer sauce/salsa with onions, peppers, cilantro and various spices. added chicken broth will make a killer sauce to cook pretty much any protein. i recommend shredded pork.
