Question by Chuck G: What vegetable seeds require light to germinate?
I know that lettuce does, but that doesn’t apply to me. Right now I am starting some seeds indoors.
Currently I have planted:
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Peppers (Hot & Sweet)
Tomato
Eggplant
I have my florescent light set up for when they sprout but I just don’t know if I should put the light on any of these for the germination process. Especially the eggplant.

No vegetable seeds need light to germinate just a temperature of 60f once the break through the compost then they need light and a temperature of 50f.,Ordinary florescent lights give the wrong colour spectrum for plants but none of the seeds mentioned need extra light. If you are thinking of growing exhibition onions then you use horticultural grow lights as the seed is sown in late December when day light hours are short. As plants respond to length of day light that is why grow lightsare used .This is very basic big onion growing 10lb plus but too detailed for questions and answers
