Question by Judith: Why are my tomato plants not producing tomatoes?
My 3 tomato plants have lots of leaves and are quite tall (about 5 feet so far). The leaves are healthy and green. Problem is, very little fruit. I have cherry, zebra and better boy plants. Other years by now I’ve got bumper crops, but not this year. Any answers?

  1. Thanks. A little over two feet between plants in the row and roughly 3 feet between rows.

  2. how far are you spaceing yours? they look really good!

  3. too much water??

  4. Well I have a garden n I just started getting tomatoes….the main season for them is August so I would just wait n hope for the best…good luck

  5. I’m having the same problem with some of mine. Where are you keeping them? They need to be in a greenhouse or by a sunny window if possible. They like the warmth. Also, have you re-potted them properly as they’ve grown? Because if you leave them for too long in under-sized pots, they won’t produce as much fruit. That’s just what I’ve learned from experience.

  6. there is a bee shortage this year. you may have to pollinate the flowers yourself.

  7. Shake them gently.

If you break the leaves off around the little tomatoes, they will get more airflow and sun and have tender skins.

  8. Have you been fertilizing the soil? And what type of soil did you plant in originally?
