So this morning I woke up with a cold, and I’ve survived through school for today. Now I’m at home, and we have nothing really that can cure colds, but we have tomato soup. Is tomato soup good for a cold like chicken noodle soup is?

I’ve always thought so. Made with a base of chicken stock, onions, garlic and basil or oregano, all home grown. A wonderful sight as it comes to the table with a sprinkling of fresh oregano over the top, looking like chips of emerald against the ruby colour of the tomatoes. Mm, now I’m hungry. Got to go.

Thank you for watching. I have had my Victorio Strainer for years. It is by far my favorite kitchen gadget. So helpful. It cuts your work for apple sauce and apple or pear butter in half.

The ladle that’s left…a little sample for the cook. Nothing better when there’s snow on the ground in February than to have a steaming hot bowl of home canned tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. So delicious!
