Question by springnicht9297: How much of canned tomatoes should I use for my spaghetti recipe?
In this cookbook I’m using, it says I should use 4 (no. 303) cans tomatoes for a spaghetti recipe, but I’m not sure how much I should buy/use. I found the following website below, but it is confusing me. Can anyone help? Thanks

It depends on how much you are making. Look at the cookbook and see how many people the recipe says it will serve. Then you just have to do the math to see how that applies to the size you want to make.

The 303 sized can is the standard 14-16oz. can. Using 4 you will probably have enough to feed 8-12 people. I like to mix up the varieties of tomatoes I use when making spaghetti sauce. 2 cans of crushed tomatoes, 1 can tomato sauce, and 1 can diced tomatoes (preferably with Italian seasoning). I also add a few tablespoons of tomato paste. You’ll find if you taste them each one has a slightly different tomato taste. Adding the diced tomatoes helps to give texture.
Usually, for 500grams dry pasta, one 400gr can is enough.
