We are doing a garden for the first time. How do I know how many cucumber plants and tomato plants to get? Does anyone know how to help or of a good website for the information?

It would all depend on the size of space you are going to plant them. Tomatoes and cucumbers need a lot of space to grow. Try not to crowd them. Good luck.

A cucumber plant can produce several cucumbers on a long vine. I would suggest planting two at a time wait about 3 weeks and plant some more.. That way you will not have more cucumbers then you can handle. I would suggest about 5 tomato plants. Plant some more later on. If your tomato plants do not produce, gentle shake them and drop them to the ground. When the tomatoes appear, they need sun and airflow, cut the leaves off around each tomato. The leaves take nutrition anyway.
