  1. After taking them out, put them on paper towels and let them dry completely out, even as long a 4 hours. Then cook them. The slower you cook them, the lower the flame, and the grease isn’t hot enough. They need to be cook in hot grease.

Yes you thaw them completely and let them stand at room temperature until you can no longer see moisture.

  2. You need to bring the tomatoe slices to room temperature on a paper towel and then salt them. The salt will draw out most of the mositure. This can take a couple of hours. Then bread them and place in refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Make sure that the oil is at the right temp before adding the breaded tomatoes. The tomatoes will be perfect every time. Never fry slowly, always quick fry and then place on paper towel. Sprinkle lightly with salt and eat right away.

  3. I’m hoping you thawed them out and decored them first…
Its kind of like your frying the shell of the tomato.
Most of the time what I do is remove the insides of the tomato, apply the breading, fry them, and then let them cool off for about 10-20 minutes.
What I usually do with the insides, or guts, of the tomatoes is blend them with a sultry combination of herbs and spices, maybe a few sauces if I want to be daring and try something new.
After you’ve mixed everything all together all you do is spoon the tomato paste concoction back into the shells and serve them up with your favorite drinks (alcoholic I hope) and voila, there you have it!

  5. The secret to great fried green tomatoes is buttermilk.
Slice your tomatoes, place in a bowl, add salt then add buttermilk to top. Let set about 30 minutes. Remove from buttermilk and dredge in flour. Deep fry until golden brown.

    Mmm, Mmm, Good!

  6. i have a recipe for it :first remove all the pulp and seeds from it and then stuff them with this: 2 mashed potatoes,2 tablespoon black pepper,2 pieces of cottage cheese and pieces of celery,if you want u can put some diced mushrooms in it and of course salt to taste. When you have finished stuffing them, deep fry them and put them on paper towels. It looks much tastier with tomato ketchup.

  7. DO NOT THAW frozen green tomatoes or you will have exactly the result you described. The flavor of the frozen doesn’t come close to the fresh so hang in there Green Tomato season is right around the corner. Try the frozen fried okra instead.

  8. let them thaw first!! LOL but a friend of mine uses different colors or types of ripeness & chops them up & then runs them thru flour & a little egg, they’re the best i’ve EVER tasted!! i like them sliced thin breaded with flour too

  10. If you’re asking how to cook the frozen ones, I suggest you read the back of the package re: cooking instructions.

  11. I make them all the time. You do not have to use all green tomatoes. You can fry 1 / 2 ripe tomatoes or red ripe tomatoes as well.
    here goes

Slice tomato slices about 1/4 inch thick
make a mixture of 1/4 parts flour and 1 / 2 part yellow cornmeal salt and pepper and 1 tablespoon of regular granulated sugar.

You should have plenty of grease in you cast iron fry pan.
When grease is hot add tomatoes one at a time. Turn pan down to med high and brown on both sides. Remove and place on papertowel to drain.

Serve immediately. Great served with cream style homemade corn. Fried potatoes and onions or fried yellow squash also is good with this.

Make some fried chicken, fried tomatoes and chicken gravy and collard greens or kale. Good southern cooking.

I was raised on this kind of cooking. Your making me hurgry and its 10 after 3 in the morning. Time for me to turn in for the night.

Wish I was there to help eat this meal

    Good luck cooking
