Question by Sara: Which tomatoes are best for pico de gallo?
Most pico de gallo recipes I have found just call for tomatoes. Does anyone have suggestions for which tomatoes taste best in this recipes?

  10. I use Roma tomatoes. They have very few seeds, and more meat.

  11. Roma (or any kind of plum tomato) have lots of meat and few seeds, which makes them idea for sauces, salsas, etc.

    Here’s a recipe for a pico de gallo recipe that’s very similar to the one that Applebees serves:

    Ingredients:

    8 Roma tomatoes, diced
    1 large onion, diced
    2 tablespoons diced Jalapenos
    1/2 cup fresh cilantro (diced)
    2 teaspoons Salt
    1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    1 tablespoon white vinegar

    Directions:

    Mix all ingredients together in large container until well blended. Allow to set for at least 6 hours. Flavor is even better if allowed to sit overnight.

  12. Well my mom just puts the ones from the store there isn’t other different taste to Pico De Gallo.
    MY MOM PUTS TOMATOES, GREEN PEEPERS, ONIONS, SANCHO, AND THE BEST PART IS TO PUT LEMON AT THE END. MAN I COULD ALREADY TASTE IT!!! I LOVE PICO DE GALLO. I LOVE SPICY STUFF!!!!
