that tomatoes have salmonella right now,in few states not all.
What do you think? Answer below!
They should be safe. These salmonella outbreaks are because of a mass producing farm having a tainted crop, which subsequently gets shipped off all over the country. Local organic farms are a different supply source, so they should be safe – ask Whole Foods where they source their tomatoes from, the produce manager should know, especially with the salmonella concerns right now.
The three tomato types to avoid right now are red plum, red roma, and red round tomatoes. Grape tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, tomatoes on the vine…those are all safe to eat raw. If you’re still not sure you can always cook the tomatoes which will kill off any bacteria.
Well, I am staying away from tomatoes period because since the salmonella outbreak is occuring, I would rather be safe than sorry. But I guess it is safe to eat it if the outbreak is not happening in your state… The store might not even sell it to tell you the truth because the other day, I went into Subway and they had a little sign saying that they temporarily are not serving tomatoes because the government is tracking down where the outbreak started from. Hope I’ve helped! ♥
yes organic food is better but expensive you should watch the news about this tomato thing idk
Our local news did a feature on this. They said tomatoes sold “on the vine” as well as organic tomatoes are safe.
The only official information is that roma, plums and red round tomatoes are on the list. They (CDC, FDA) don’t know if it’s mass produced tomatoes or organic tomatoes that caused the illness.
However, tomatoes on the vine are safe and grown in certain states are safe.

Also, the concern is about eating raw tomatoes.
If you cook them, they will be fine.
