Bistro Bella Vita offered their savory Watermelon and Tomato Salad at the Local First Eat Local Challenge. It was a great event on the third floor of San Chez. Great people, tasty food.

What better things are there to do in third world countries? Drop a KFC in the desert and see what happens
Are you talking about yourself in the 3rd person? As in narrating your own life?
I’ve personally never needed to.
I took 4 years of French in high school. Living in America you’re also probably gonna pick up some Spanish whether you intend to or not.
There’s no incentive. I only learned English so I could watch Hollywood movies.
Sounds like Joe is planning on becoming an interpreter.
I bet Joe will improve his diet, among other things, after that.
There are a few of us that are multilingual Joe.
What does this have to do with R&S?
Some Americans know a 2nd language. There are a few reasons behind this fact.
The first of which is simple… Joe’s native language is probably not spoken anywhere outside his homeland. He would need to learn another language to be able to communicate in a professional world. Seeing as how the English Empire spanned the globe, English is a widely known language. This makes it ideal for business use.
Another reason is that in the United States, there isn’t much need for us to learn a 2nd language since people from most other countries speak English to some level. For the most part, there isn’t much interaction with people who speak languages other than English. You may run into a Canadian who speaks French or someone from Latin America or South America who speaks Spanish, maybe Portuguese, but they probably also speak English. Since most people we would encounter already speak our language, there is little incentive other than intellectual pursuits for Americans to learn another language.
You are assuming we don’t and assumptions are for the weak minded. I am fluent in Spanish, English, and ASL. I know some German, French and a little BSL.
For those of you who are confused: ASL American Sign Language and BSL is British Sign Language and yes they ARE different.
