Question by blu: What’s your best example of “die on the vine”?
As I view the weathered tomato plants I see a few green tomatoes that never had a chance. Conversely, had I neglected harvesting the ones when the weather was warm, they could have died on the vine.
Metaphorical answers are appreciated.

Actually they make a very good dessert wine from frozen grapes. Canada is known for it. They are called “Ice wines”…very sweet, very potent, meant to be taken in small doses.
