Question by blu: What’s your best example of “die on the vine”?
As I view the weathered tomato plants I see a few green tomatoes that never had a chance. Conversely, had I neglected harvesting the ones when the weather was warm, they could have died on the vine.
Metaphorical answers are appreciated.

  3. Actually they make a very good dessert wine from frozen grapes. Canada is known for it. They are called “Ice wines”…very sweet, very potent, meant to be taken in small doses.

    Also, there are vegetables meant to be picked AFTER the first hard frosts have “sweetened” them. Parsnips being the most prevalent of these, but also rutabaga and other turnips.
