Question by intellectual kitkat: whats this i hear about salmonella in tomatoes?
its hard to keep track of this kinda thing. is it really a concern? i eat raw tomatoes all the time im fineeee. :)
seriously, is it a contamination of only one brand or bunch or is it like a pandemic? is there a way to help/stop it? sorry if this question seems silly but its so hard to keep track of this.

Rip Van Winkle? :-)
That happened weeks ago.
Where have you been?

They still didn’t find the source but all the tomato’s that on sale are being tested and are safe.( Thats what the FDA tells us anyway).

It was only Plum tomatoes and red round tomatoes.
Vine tomatoes and cherry tomatoes were not affected.

  1. Yeah, its been like this for a few weeks now.
My mother who is MExican and makes salsa is mad at this.
But yes, you can eat small grape and cherry tomatoes,
and the ones that grow on the vine!

Also, cilantro has been affected too!
    So be careful.

  4. My mom would eat the tomatoes when this thing first started. Now that so many people have gotten sick she has thrown all of them out. I would rather be safe then sorry and not eat the tomatoes.

  5. It was on the news all over the place a few weeks ago. *Some* types of tomatoes were contaminated with salmonella. Most kinds were not.
