Amazing Easy & Mouthwatering Pasta…Enjoy!

Question by finlyngrace: What is the best device to make pasta dough?
I have 3 devices to make pasta dough (well, 4 if you count hands). I have a stand mixer with a dough hook, a food processor with a dough hook, and a bread maker with a dough setting. I want the easiest one with less clean up or just the best. What have you used?

Also, do you use all purpose flour or semolina? I’ve never tried semolina but want to.

  1. I’ve got all 4 as well, and I prefer using my hands. Making pasta dough is simple and quick, and I prefer not to have a machine to clean. Simply clean the counter where you mixed and kneaded, and wash your hands 😉 You also have a feel as to the texture of the dough when mixing by hand. Hope this helps 😉

As to the second part of your question, which I missed, I use all purpose flour, wheat flour, and love adding different flavors such as spinach, tomato, or herbs. Not sure if I have ever tried semolina, but I probably have ~ big time bread baker, so have lots in the pantry to choose from.

  2. I’m Italian. I find the best device to get pizza dough is the car. Drive to Winco. They make the best pizza dough in the world. They either have it in the cold food section where the cheeses and lunch meats are by the meat department, or in the front of the store where they sell already made pizza. Ask for 2 packages. Bring it home and put the two in a zip lock bag and let them rise together. Then roll the dough out on a floured surface, put it on a spray oiled pizza pan and put on the sauce and toppings. Cook at 425 until the cheese is all melted and the crust is lightly brown. Honestly, I dont know how they make it, but its the best I’ve ever had.

  3. Hands are really the best. You make a mound of flour, then make a well and put your eggs into the middle. Mix the flour to it until it doesn’t stick anymore. Mix it for about two minutes, let it sit for a minute then mix it again. The rest will let the flour absorb the moisture from the eggs.
