Wow, this is a refreshing, colorful trailer, Janet. You did a great job…as usual. In addition to the recipes, this book is worth it for the illustrations. I don’t cook much anymore, but am very intrigued with this work… Brilliant the way it fits with your awesome trilogy. Keep up the great work. <3
grilled cheese!
My grandmother used to give me grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup. And it was very good!
Melinda nailed it – nothing goes better with the tomato soup than a nice grilled cheese sandwich. You could even sprinkle a little shredded cheese in your soup.
Another thing that would go good with it is Flat Bread and butter (I had that in a restaurant with my tomato soup many times). I also had a small cup of potato salad and 2 deviled egg halves. Too bad that restaurant closed – they really made great food.
you could put grated cheese, pepper, or sour cream and pepper, i like mine with a grilled cheese.
GRILLED CHEESE!
the classic grilled cheese. of course sometimes a plain salad is always good.
I just had a grilled cheese with mine, and crackers with butter
Grilled cheese is good, but, a tuna fish with lettuce sandwich would be just as good if not better.
Try a grilled cheese sandwich made with jalapeno peppers – it’s WONDERFUL.

Ingredient list:
2 cans of tomato soup
1 can of sliced or diced tomatoes
1 can or bottle of V8 juice
1 cup of chopped carrots
1 cup of chopped celery
1 medium onion chopped
Water
Nonstick surface pot is handy!
*Corn starch
Chicken base or Chicken broth
Elbow or Orzo noodles or rice
Black and white pepper, salt, granulated garlic, dill
Optional mushrooms: sliced thin
½ stick of butter or margarine
Parmesan cheese
1.Place carrots, onion, celery and butter in pot over medium heat. Sautee the mix until onions are clear or carrots start to become fork tender.
2.Add tomatoes and tomato soup w/ 2 cans of water.
3.Add chicken base* [about 1 tbsp] or one small can of Chicken broth.
4.Heat until low boil occurs. Stir to make sure bottom does not stick. Turn heat to simmer. Do not burn.
5.Mix small amount of corn starch in a small bowl or cup and add cold water until you have a soupy mix. Stir well with fork. Pour small amount at a time into soup mix to thicken. [Remember, it is easier to add more than take too much out]
6.Add optional mushrooms.
7.Add peppers, salt, garlic and a good dash of dill to taste.
8.Cook for 10-15 minutes until soup appears to have a less than gravy-like consistency.
9.Cook rice or noodles separately.
10.Place rice or noodles in a bowl, ladle soup over rice, serve with Parmesan cheese.
Garlic bread or croutons.
