Question by Aly: Are my tomato plants safe to eat?
I think that my tomato plants have “Late Summer Blite” or “Late Season Blite” because the plant is basically rotting at the bottom. I picked a few tomatoes already they seem fine. Can I eat them?
I am sorry I wanted to say are my tomatos safe to eat

Melinda time to not panic but please Look into fukushima any support you need I am here to give it but stuff aint looking to good.
maybe the junk in your back yard is causing it
It has everything to do with radiation, its also mutating humans n animals
take it easy on the fert
What’s a “mute tent”? I think you are a mutant. It happens lady, doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with radiation.
There are several possibilities that can cause “mutant” tomato plants. Fukushima isn’t one of them in this case. If it were, it would affect a LOT of things, not only a few tomato plants at random. Given what was released, and I DO believe a lot of radiation was, if it were radiation, you would have a lot more problems by now than just a few odd tomatoes.
if its a mutant tomayo plant why leave it in your garden throw it away
hi ‘chavspotter’, (great nik btw) just noticed your new “contrail” video.
looks like yer getting just as much, if not more, airborne filth as we are! (but.. do you get the lithium with your flouride too? …no? … gotta say, yer missin out on some great meds, buuuddy…. )
0;33 ”radar specialist on a nuclear submarine in WW2”? The first nuclear submarine, USS Nautilus, was launched in 1954!
Dear, it looks like your tomatoes show signs of having a virus called “curly top”. I see you grow lettuce, perhaps you have grown some beets? That virus is spread by the beet leafhopper. Not much you can do after the plants get sick. Do a google image search for tomato curly top. You will see. Hope you have a good crop, some of your plants look very healthy. If radiation was the problem, all plants would be affected, not just the ones that got bitten by the hoppers!
Get a 12 inch long piece of 1 inch PVC, pound it into the ground about 8 to 10 inches deep right next to your “mutant” tomatoes. Pull it out of the ground, you now have a core sample of your soil. Take that to Gardener’s Supply, 2920 Landco Dr, it’s just off Rosedale Hwy east of Fruitvale. They will do a free basic soil test for you, and recommend the proper nutrients for your specific type of tomato. Your problem is not radiation from Fukushima.
I dont know if your joking or just very stupid. Or are still waiting for our gov to tell you theres 3 nucular reactors in Japan at full meltdown and blows here on the jet stream. Dont worry though, I’ve already checked with our fire department and they dont even have a gieger counter so I guess their waiting for the gov too. But if I were you, I wouldn’t be out in the rain, which is fallout, all rain from now on will have fallout from Japan.
i don’t know if your joking or just stupid, what radiation do we have in Bakersfield?? Its just a retarded ( retarded, is a strong word ) tomato plant, it happens in nature. its not odd, and it won’t poison you.
yes i have had mutant plants in my garden yorkshire uk
I think u can eat them i think your plants are rotting because its summer and it can be hot so its shrivilling up. I grow my own tomatoes the same things happen i ate the good ones about a week ago and i feel fine so i think the tomatoes are good
Tomatoes would be safe to eat, but i am not sure about the plant.
They should be fine as long as they are red and plump. If there are any rotting on the tomato itself then i would advise against it.
It will be perfectly alright to eat the tomatoes, but all other parts of the tomato plants are poisionious being in the nightshade family…If th4e plant gets to bad and there are lots of green tomatoes left on them and you have to pull them..Put the green tomatoes in a brown paper sack in a cool place with a banana and they will ripen up..Bananas release ethylene gas which is a natural ripening agent for veggies and this will aide ripening the tomatoes
yea theyre actually better when the plant dries because they have been there for a long time. well if they have been on for really long they will taste better but anyway yea its fine to eat 100 percent positive oh yea and the dude who sed about the poison is rlly dumb because actually they have stuff that help your brain and heat and they were once thought 2 be poisonous like 400 years ago stupid.!!!! but yea eat ur tomatoes
Yes, your tomatoes are safe to eat. How do I know? I’ve eaten lots of them off blighted plants. (Even if the virus was in the tomatoes it doesn’t affect humans or other animals.)
