Question by brrrlynn: what can i make with rice and ground beef?
I have a 10lb bag of rice that i need to start using. I really don’t have much else in my house because grocery day got skipped this week and i haven’t had time to go because of work. Besides rice i have ground beef, pork, tomato soup, chicken noodle soup, corn, onions, mushrooms, broccoli, eggs, lemons, celery, and butter. I have some other thing but nothing else i would wanna use with rice. I have seen a few recipes calling for cream of mushroom soup, i would probably go buy a few cans of that or anything else small that i might need. Ive already looked on the internet for recipes but i didnt find much i liked, any suggestions?

brown your beef (season with salt, pepper, and onion powder), add chopped celery, and onion. When beef and veggies are nearly cooked add the sliced mushroom? add the tomato soup and one can of milk, mix well and simmer. servie over white rice.
Fried rice with ground pork, onions, mushrooms, broccoli, eggs, and butter. Add some salt and pepper, and a packet of soy sauce and make sure you cook the rice and cool it prior to attempting to pan fry it. Possibly make a big batch of plain white rice, and use some the following day for fried rice.
Another option is buying a green pepper (or even a large ripe tomato) and cutting in half, coring out the inside, and stuffing the pepper (or tomato) with a tomato soup, cooked rice, and cooked ground beef with onion and corn mixture. Bake in the oven at 350 for 20 minutes!
Something Ive never tried, but have heard of doing is mixing both the ground meats, eggs, diced onions, cooked rice, celery, mushrooms, and corn into a meatloaf. You would need to bake for about 30-50 minutes depending on size. Rice is also a good side dish for the last two meals, cooked gently with some butter and a side of broccoli. Hope all works out!
Canned tomatoes such as Ro Tel or even plain will help you make a spanish rice…with or without meat.
You can also add rice and cheese, maybe some mushrooms to your scrambled eggs and wrap it in a tortilla.
Rice and pork with your fav seasonings, some broccoli, will be great oven roasted or in the crockpot.
Onions and celery are great seasoning ingredients for any of these things.
You can get some cans of stock or add any flavorful liquid (including seasoned water) and use the risotto method…this is when you heat up a little butter, coat the kernels of rice with it. Meanwhile you have your liquid simmering in another pan. Then add the liquid a ladle full at a time and stir the rice while it absorbs the liquid. The rice cooks slowly by “digesting” the liquid a little at a time, and as it gets drier, it condenses the flavor, and caramelizes slightly to make a really intense and complex flavor. Then you add parmesan cheese (or you could use any really) and whatever else you want…your mushrooms or any vegetable, or chunks of meat. Serve it as a side.
You can make soup with any combination of these ingredients. Rice is great in soup.
OR you can just move the rice into some zipper bags or an airtight canister. You don’t have to be in any hurry to use it up.
You could make porqupines:
Ground Beef, Uncooked Rice, Seasoning (salt, pepper, whatever else you think might help) and Tomato Soup
Combine about 500g Ground Beef and 1 cup of Uncooked Rice. Add seasoning and mix well. Shape into balls, as small or large as you want, place into a heavy based fry pan, cover with the soup and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice has plumped up and the beef is cooked through.
